Time time time ain’t got any of it

Decided that I’d finally get around to my novel rewrite this summer, there’s barely any time for breathing as it is right now.

Novel rewrite?

Yeah, I finished the rough (first) draft, and I’m about to launch into the second run through of it, assuming I live past this next four weeks of exams and moving out.

But more news will be posted here and at my writing tumblr (http://what-do-timid-writers-need.tumblr.com), so stay tuned for the fun stuff.  This is the novel that I did for NaNoWriMo 2012, but like I said, a rewrite is necessary here.

Rewrites might just become my friend this summer. *sigh*

Back in Action!

Cause for hiatus?

Life. 

We all get slammed with it.

(that and I forgot my password to this site for the nth time)

Anyway, tomorrow I’m going to start writing the book that’s been sitting in my head and on my computer (in pieces).  The sad thing is right now, I’m in the phase where I can’t type the story directly onto a computer because frankly, it comes out as crap.  My rough draft is usually whatever I’ve written in the notebooks, and then my subsequent drafts are what come out on the computer.  Another thing that drives me nuts is that it takes forever to type things out.  

I once paid my dear friend Fyrepen $1 for each page she typed out.  She didn’t mind.  I did (and not because I was the one paying).  Turns out I do editing when going from paper to computer.  

But anyway, got one more thing to do for tomorrow.  Almost done reading Phantom of the Opera (first time reading, 2nd time experiencing the story, listened to an audiobook version already), and I’ll give my thoughts on it when I’m finished.  It’ll be interesting.

Boo

So I’m back.  Was sick for a while, had to recover from that, and then catch up on the mountain of schoolwork.  On top of that as well was the short story fiction that I’m working on right now as a part of classwork.

I’m waiting for next week however to really get down to business about it because that’s when I’ll have all the time in the world.  But it really needs to be sorted out, especially after today’s (slightly, okay I lied it was very) embarrassing episode involving a lot of unbelievable information in the latest installment.  So that all needs to be sorted out.  And I need to get off my rear and edit some work from last December.  There’s been some demands on the fanfiction spectrum that need to be met, and tomorrow is when that will be done.  (It’s a response to a challenge from Tumblr, but I won’t talk about that much here)

So once school is done for now (and I’m packed to travel again, that’s going to take a while), maybe I can get something worthwhile out.  We’ll see.

Digging

Short story here.

I was cleaning out my desktop folders and stumbled upon some old projects (think, ‘2009-2010 old’) that had been put aside.  At the time I didn’t think I was going to return to them, but seeing an old potential NaNoWriMo project got me thinking about it again, and so I’m going to go back to those and start re-writing the first chapter (this will be the seventh attempt) in order to get to the rest of the story.

I had been hesitant about publishing the story on fictionpress.com, but I figured I’m not going to do anything else with it.

On a completely unrelated note, anyone familiar with Hetalia Axis Powers?  Two of my characters from this revived project resemble Arthur Kirkland (Great Britain) and Alfred Jones (United States).

My characters were created back in 2009-2010.  I just got into Hetalia over the summer.

Yikes.

The funny thing is that the one who resembles Alfred is American, but leans more toward his English roots.  The one who resembles Arthur doesn’t acknowledge his roots, preferring a ‘quiet’ life in Washington D.C.

I’m not thinking too much into that one.  It’ll make more sense once it’s up and going.

But this weekend, (after I get the editing done for class manuscript #3), I’m going to start writing the revived project.  We’ll call that one ‘Revive’ (how original, I know) until I publish the first chapter to Fictionpress.

Projects

Today I finally realized how much I underestimated the size of one of my current projects.  There’s just so more to get into, which I know is a good thing.  The only thing holding me back is my tendency to procrastinate.  As in, saving the assignments until 8 pm Sunday night when it’s due in sixteen hours.  And in there somewhere I have to remember to finish my other assignments.

Like I said, if I could just focus…

However, I am starting to look for a publisher that does novellas.  I have one already that needs a few final edits, and I want to finish this current project so that I can publish the two in the same book.  Any ideas or recommendations?

It’s too early for such little things

It’s too early (at least here anyway), for this short of a post.  But it’s gotta be said.

I figured out why it’s hard to get pre-written chapters out onto the computer.  It’s because I prefer hand-writing over typing.  For obvious reasons, that is problematic.

gah…

Overslept this morning.  Mostly because I’m getting sick (okay I lied: I’ve been sick for the last week and my body and brain can’t agree what to do, I keep going to bed really late and push myself too much during the day) and I need the sleep.  Anyway, you’d think that a pick-me-up cup of coffee would do the trick, but it didn’t.

Mostly just made me too full for dinner.

Anyway, I’m going to finish this chapter of an unpublished work before getting back to starting another short story.  That is my plan for today.

Updates :)

So I’m back after a long hiatus.

NaNoWriMo: Due to conflicts on my end, I was unable to complete the challenge for November 2011.  I stopped at about halfway through, and the story itself will regrettably sit in its folder while I plow through this load of fanfiction and get it all out of my head.

I swear, once it is all written, I shall do a dance.

My plan is to update this frequently.  It’ll be nice to talk to someone out there.

Progress Check

Hey everyone

I’ll admit right now, that the only reason I’m not taking the daily challenge from the Daily Post at WordPress.com is because I know next to nothing about what is going on at Wall Street, so I don’t think I’d have anything intelligent to say about it. Looks like I have a little research to do…

Anyway, not much progress on the novel outlining because I’ve been swamped with schoolwork, but it is my plan to finish the outline by Tuesday.  Assuming that the story doesn’t extend beyond forty chapters, which I’m hoping it won’t because forty chapters is a handful for me.  Especially since I’m juggling numerous other writing projects at the same time, and will continue to do so during November.

But I have been exchanging emails with one of the NaNoWriMo administrators, mostly over profile and story-related information.  Story profile has been updated to include the story’s title, synopsis, and genre.  I’d include the book cover too, BUT that is one of the things I talked about with the administrators, since there is no spot available for it.  Once November starts, I’ll include a link to that particular profile.

I guess that’s all, I promise tomorrow’s will be a little more exciting 😉

Hello world!

Welcome to the unofficial National Novel Writing Month blog of an aspiring writer.

For those who are unfamiliar with the idea, NaNoWriMo is a challenge where you, the author, write 50,000 words in the 30 days of November.  The idea is to just write.  Don’t edit, don’t rewrite, just get it out on paper.  December is for the finishing/editing.  I know it sounds daunting, and I saw it as such during my first year, but in the end I found it to be a lot of fun. Granted, the manuscript from last year is still sitting on my desktop, waiting patiently for me to remember its existence.

The point of this blog is to share experiences, stories, and maybe post a webpage or two that happened to catch my eye.  It is also a motivator for me, since one of the rules is to tell as many people as possible so you’ll be motivated to pass the 50K word finish line.

What better way to tell people than to write about it on the Internet?

Anyway, right now, since it isn’t November yet, I’ve just been working on chapter outlines, which is permitted. Actual writing has to wait until 12:00 AM, November 1st.

And since I happen to stay up past midnight on an almost daily basis, that won’t be a problem.  That was actually a trick that worked very well last year.
